A faculty member from the College of Agriculture participated in the Third Industrial Conference on Applied Research, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Minerals.

Professor Bassem Aboud Abbas, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, University of Diyala, participated in the Third Industrial Conference on Applied Research, held by the Industrial Research and Development Authority of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals on September 18–19, 2024, in Baghdad. He presented a research paper titled “The Effect of Die Speed and Diameter on the Performance of Pellet Manufacturing Machines.”

The study emphasized that animal feed accounts for 60% to 70% of the total expenses in livestock production projects, including poultry production. As such, feed manufacturing processes significantly impact production efficiency and profitability.

The researcher highlighted the importance of evaluating the performance efficiency of machinery used in feed production, given the critical need to control the quality of manufactured feed in local markets—an issue of concern for both producers and consumers. Enhancing the quality of manufactured feed plays a key role in advancing this industry by yielding positive outcomes for post-production trade. With the expansion of livestock production projects, particularly in the poultry sector, there is an increasing need for locally produced pelletized feed in addition to imported alternatives.
