Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Agriculture at Diyala University, Professor Dr. Raed Ibrahim Khalil, and as part of ongoing engagement with alumni, the Department of Field Crop Sciences, in collaboration with the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, hosted a seminar titled “Towards Successful Agricultural Projects“. This seminar emphasized the pivotal role of agricultural engineers in effectively contributing to the success of agricultural projects by transitioning from traditional farming to modern and subsequently industrial agriculture to enhance production both quantitatively and qualitatively through effective management and the application of modern technology and resource management. The seminar featured lectures by Dr. Omar Ali Ahmad, attended by the Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Nizar Suleiman Ali, and the Head of the Department of Field Crop Sciences, Professor Dr. Adnan Hussein Ali Al-Wakaa, along with a group of alumni and a gathering of agricultural engineers who discussed their post-graduation experiences and contrib utions to addressing the environmental challenges faced by the country. This seminar was the second specialized event held at our college targeting this important segment.
Key recommendations from the seminar included the development of a comprehensive training program by the faculty’s staff to enhance the skills of graduates in alignment with the labor market and to bridge the gap between current traditional agricultural practices and modern agriculture. Additionally, the seminar recommended the necessity of engaging with relevant governmental institutions to facilitate the transition towards investment by providing legal frameworks and governmental support.
