A Master’s thesis in the Faculty of Agriculture

The College of Agriculture at Diyala University discussed the Master’s thesis titled “The Effect of Adding Humic and Fulvic Acids and Spraying Thiamine and Riboflavin on the Growth and Flowering of the Schiboui Plant.”

The study, presented by the student Zaman Saad Mohammed, aimed to examine the impact of humic and fulvic acids, as well as the spraying of thiamine and riboflavin, on increasing the ratio of “qatmer” flowers to “qati” flowers in the Schiboui plant, reducing flower drop, and addressing the phenomenon of bending. The study also sought to investigate the response of vegetative and flowering traits of the Schiboui plant to the addition of humic and fulvic acids and the spraying of thiamine and riboflavin, as well as the effect of the interaction between these factors. Furthermore, the study aimed to determine the best combination for producing high-quality plants with commercially viable flowers and a long flowering lifespan.

The study concluded with several findings and recommendations:

  • The addition of humic and fulvic acids positively affected most of the vegetative and flowering traits of the Schiboui plant.

  • Foliar spraying of thiamine and riboflavin improved most vegetative and flowering traits of the plant.

  • The effect of humic and fulvic acids, as well as vitamins, varied depending on the type of acid, the vitamin, and the concentration used, with higher concentrations yielding the best results.

  • The interaction between the addition of humic and fulvic acids and foliar spraying of thiamine and riboflavin had a positive impact on most vegetative and flowering traits of the plant. This interaction helped determine the optimal combination for producing high-quality plants with commercially viable flowers and a long flowering lifespan.

The recommendations included conducting further studies to explore how other plants might respond to the addition of humic and fulvic acids and the spraying of thiamine and riboflavin at different concentrations. Additionally, it was recommended to spray thiamine at a concentration of 200 mg/L and riboflavin at 100 mg/L due to their significant positive effect on improving vegetative and flowering traits. The study also recommended the addition of humic acid at a concentration of 1 g/L and fulvic acid at 0.5 g/L due to their significant positive effects on improving vegetative and flowering traits of the Schiboui plant.
