Two faculty members from the College of Agriculture at the University of Diyala, namely Dr. Abbas Abdul Ahmed and Dr. Osama Ghazi Ismail, from the Department of Soil and Water Resources Sciences, participated in the International Scientific Conference held at Dam ascus University in the Syrian Arab Republic. The conference, titled “Digital Transformation and Its Implications for Sustainable Development,” featured their scientific research paper titled “Previous Studies on Digitalization Technologies and Their Effects on the Agricultural Production Sector, Food Industries, and E-Marketing.”
Their research explored the use of modern technologies, such as tablets and computers, in managing agricultural operations, including irrigation, moisture level determination, pest detection, and identifying green areas using remote sensing systems. Additionally, the researchers analyzed how digitalization technologies can be utilized to achieve their objectives in food manufacturing processes associated with agricultural crops, aiming to provide safe food for the population at the lowest costs and the highest possible health standards.
Furthermore, the researchers identified obstacles to applying digitalization in e-marketing, ensuring data security, and promoting awareness of the adoption of these technologies in commercial exchanges. The study concluded by recommending the need to establish legal frameworks to regulate the implementation of digitalization in agricultural production and marketing sectors and related industries to ensure the safe use of these technologies and to reduce digital illiteracy.
