Two faculty members from the College of Agriculture at the University of Diyala, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Ghaidan Zaidan and Lecturer Muna Abdullah Mahmoud, from the Department of Field Crop Sciences, have published a scientific paper in an international journal indexed by Scopus. The paper, titled “Evaluate Efficiency of Management in Using Some Seed Varieties for Wheat Production in Diyala Governorate,” assesses the efficiency of management in using different seed varieties for wheat production in Diyala Governorate.

The study was conducted on two farms at the Ghalibiya Agricultural Research Station in Diyala during the 2022-2023 season. Its aim was to evaluate the agricultural management efficiency in selecting improved varieties of wheat, namely Ibaa 99 and Bohouth 22, for wheat production. According to economic analysis based on key economic indicators, the economic profit for the Ibaa 99 and Bohouth 22 varieties was 19,037,063 and 31,651,009.7 Iraqi dinars, respectively. The net cash income indicator showed that Bohouth 22 achieved the highest value at 39,702,750 Iraqi dinars, while Ibaa 99 achieved 24,473,000 Iraqi dinars.

Moreover, the return on investment per Iraqi dinar was observed to be 1.637 for Ibaa 99 and 2.102 for Bohouth 22. The productivity profitability for Ibaa 99 and Bohouth 22 was 63.73% and 110.24%, respectively, while the capital productivity was approximately 2.00 for Ibaa 99 and 2.92 for Bohouth 22.

The study emphasizes that government support for production inputs, especially seeds, positively impacted the return on invested capital and productivity. It recommends that farmers adopt the Bohouth 22 variety in areas designated for its cultivation, as it demonstrates superior economic performance based on the analyzed indicators.
