Professor Dr. Fares Mohammed Suhail, the Associate Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the College of Agriculture, University of Diyala, participated as a member of the doctoral dissertation defense committee at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra. The dissertation, presented by the student Israa Adnan Al-Maliki, was entitled: “The Effect of Humic Acids Extracted from Organic Sources and Inoculation with Bacillus subtilis Bacteria and Aspergillus niger Fungus on the Activity of Certain Soil Enzymes, Their Structural Constants, and the Growth and Yield of Wheat.”
The researcher’s conclusions indicated that the properties of humic acids (humic acid and fulvic acid) varied depending on the source from which they were extracted. Furthermore, all sources of humic acids, at various concentrations, inhibited the activity of the urease enzyme, while they increased the activity of enzymes such as alkaline phosphatase, arylsulfatase, and dehydrogenase. This inhibition could potentially enhance the efficiency of urea fertilizer under calcareous soil conditions.
In recognition of his participation, Professor Dr. Fares Mohammed Suhail received a letter of appreciation from the Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra.
