The Dean of the College of Agriculture presided over the committee for the defense of a master’s thesis in our college, focusing on the effect of injecting varying levels of L-carnitine on semen characteristics in Afghan goats during the summer season.
The Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Diyala, Professor Dr. Raed Ibrahim Khalil, presided over the committee for the defense of the master’s thesis entitled “The Effect of Injecting Different Levels of L-Carnitine on Semen Characteristics in Afghan Goats During the Summer Season.”
The study, conducted by the student Ya’mer Abdul Ahmed, reached several conclusions, including:
-
An increase in blood testosterone and cortisol levels, both within and outside the breeding season.
-
Development of functional testicular tissue compared to the control group.
-
Improvement in semen characteristics, particularly in terms of live and dead sperm, deformed and normal sperm, as well as individual and collective sperm motility.
The researcher recommends:
-
Injecting L-Carnitine at a concentration of 75 mg to stimulate sexual desire in Afghan male goats during the summer season.
-
Injecting L-Carnitine in combination with other acids, such as aspartic acid and arginine, to compare their effects on the semen characteristics of Afghan male goats during the summer season.
-
Conducting future studies in which L-Carnitine is injected into female goats outside the breeding season to evaluate its effect on egg production.
