A research team from the College of Agriculture at the University of Diyala, consisting of master’s student Mustafa Hussein and his supervisor, Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Hassan Fahmi from the Department of Soil and Water Resources, has published a scientific paper in a global journal indexed within the Scopus database. The paper, entitled “Preparation and Characterization of Biochars from Plant and Animal Waste Under Different Pyrolysis Temperatures,” was published by the IOP Conference Series.
The study involved the environmentally friendly preparation of biochar from different sources, including sheep waste and date palm residues, under varying pyrolysis temperatures. The research conducted chemical and physical tests on the produced biochar to determine its future applications in water and soil treatment, as well as in increasing soil fertility through biochar addition. This research contributes to efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development goals by reducing carbon emissions, managing waste in an eco-friendly manner, and using biochar to sustainably preserve natural resources such as soil and water.
