Assistant Professor Dr. Hassan Hadi Mustafa, Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Diyala, gave an indicative lecture at the Agricultural Extension and Training Center in Diyala Governorate on August 4, 2021, entitled (Modern scientific methods for managing grape orchard fields).
The lecture included several axes, the first axis urging farmers on the importance of using drip irrigation, especially during the current period, which is witnessing a great shortage of water. In the plant, whether by scientific laboratory or optical methods, and determine the needs of the plant according to the symptoms of deficiency that appear on the plant.
In the third axis, he discussed urging and guiding farmers on the appropriate dates for fertilizing plants with organic and chemical fertilizers, explaining to them modern and correct techniques in fertilizing grape trees, and showing them the importance of foliar fertilization by spraying during the different stages of plant growth to compensate for the shortage of elements, especially the small ones, to benefit the plant as quickly as possible compared to by other fertilization methods.
At the end of the lecture, the farmers expressed their thanks for the efforts made by the Agricultural Extension and Training Department in cooperation with the College of Agriculture at the University of Diyala for the valuable information it provided in the interest of the farmer and the development of the farmer's ability to use modern technology in agriculture.
Most of the problems faced by farmers in their agricultural fields were also discussed and appropriate solutions were found.
