A faculty member from the College of Agriculture participated as a member of the Master’s thesis defense committee at Al-Iraqia University.
Assistant Professor Dr. Ikhlas Mutaib Ahmed, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, University of Diyala, participated as a member of the Master’s thesis defense committee at the College of Education, Department of Life Sciences, Al-Iraqia University.
The thesis, submitted by Noor Abdul Muneim Najm, was titled:
“The Role of Marine Extract in the Growth of Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) Callus and Its Content of Bioactive Compounds In Vitro.”
The study aimed to explore the feasibility of in vitro cultivation of rosemary, the production of callus tissue, and the enhancement of medically significant compounds by incorporating growth regulators and biostimulants. Specifically, the research examined the effect of algal extract at varying concentrations (0, 30, 60, and 90 mL/L) in increasing the levels of bioactive compounds, including Rosmarinic acid, Apigenin, Gallic acid, Luteolin, and Coumaric acid.
The study concluded that algal extracts, biostimulants, and controlled stress conditions could be effectively utilized to enhance the production of medically important compounds, offering promising applications in pharmaceutical and agricultural biotechnology.
