Lecturer Dr. Amer Khaled Ahmed from the College of Agriculture at the University of Diyala attended the “Virtual Matchmaking Event on Water Resources Management in Germany and Iraq – Potential for Academic Collaboration,” supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Prof. Dr. Lars Ribbe from TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences highlighted Germany’s significant achievements in managing water resources, ensuring their availability for human consumption, agriculture, and other needs, and protecting them from pollution. He noted the potential for transferring these experiences to Iraq. However, he emphasized the fundamental difference between the two countries: Iraq suffers from water scarcity, whereas Germany faces water pollution challenges due to industrial activities.
Additionally, DAAD supervisors indicated the possibility of providing financial and academic support for these projects, as well as for researchers, supervisors, and faculty members involved in this field, facilitating the transfer of academic expertise.
