Assistant Professor Dr. Zina Sami Rashid, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, participated as a member of the doctoral dissertation defense committee for the Ph.D. candidate Zahraa Ezzat Abdul-Hussein at the College of Agriculture – Al-Qasim Green University. The dissertation is entitled:
“Growth, Productivity, and Marketability Response of Physalis peruviana to Foliar Application of Potassium Silicate, Pomegranate Peel Aqueous Extract, and Hibiscus Extract.”
The defense session was held in the presence of several professors and researchers. The dissertation addressed the impact of selected biological and mineral treatments on Physalis peruviana (commonly known as cape gooseberry) in terms of growth, yield, and marketability, within the broader framework of promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural production practices.
Dr. Zina Sami Rashid provided her scientific observations and academic evaluation of the dissertation’s content, commending the student’s research efforts and emphasizing the significance of the study’s findings in supporting the agricultural sector and enhancing the quality of local production.
At the conclusion of the session, the candidate was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree, following the incorporation of the committee’s scientific recommendations.
